Malargüe: a sky ablaze with stars
Malargüe is renowned for its exceptionally clear sky. We go out every night.
For this activity we need a location free from light pollution. Once the binoculars are handed out at our office, we head west into the Andes, about 8 km, where the sky is exceptionally clean.
🔭 Activities
✨ Naked-eye sky recognition
With laser pointers, sky charts and simulators, we learn to identify:
- Planets
- Constellations
- Newborn, young and ancient stars
- Other galaxies
🔭 Binocular observation
We have more than 30 astronomy binoculars. With them you can see:
- Lunar craters
- Nebulae
- Open and globular star clusters
- The moons of Jupiter
- The rings of Saturn
- And much more…
🌌 Telescope observation
Our motorised-mount telescopes can observe a vast range of deep-sky objects. You can attach your phone and photograph the lunar craters.
We also have an equatorial-mount telescope for observing Jupiter’s Galilean moons, nebulae, clusters and Saturn’s rings.
📷 Astrophotography class
We learn to use our phones to capture starlight. We have more than 10 professional tripods, phone adapters, flashes and torches for photos.
You don’t need to have a camera or phone to go home with your own photo.
🪐 Take your photo home — Astrotraveller Card
At the end of the excursion you can purchase your Astrotraveller Card to download the photos taken that night. There are two versions:
⭐ ASTROTRAVELLER VIP — Plastic Card
The plastic card includes a QR code to download your photos and, on the back, a short technical guide for photographing the stars with your phone or camera, wherever you are.

The cardboard version includes the same QR code to download 3 photos from the excursion and the astrophotography guide on the back.
